About

The name on the truck is the one doing the work

Newton Landscaping is Loren Newton, a landscaper working in and around Chico. While the big outfits send whoever is available, Loren shows up himself, learns your yard, and treats it the way he treats his own.

That means small things get noticed: the sprinkler head that mists the fence instead of the lawn, the shrub that will crowd the walkway next spring, the shady corner where grass will never really take. It also means one person is accountable for the whole job, from the first walkthrough to the final cleanup.

If you want a yard that looks after itself, and a landscaper who looks after the yard, you want a name you can call directly. That’s the whole business model.

How it works

Simple from the first call

No sales funnel, no project managers. Four steps, one person.

01

Walk the yard

Loren comes out, walks the property with you, and listens to what you want out of it. No charge, no pressure.

02

A simple plan & quote

You get a clear scope and a straight price. For bigger projects, a simple layout of what goes where.

03

The work, done right

Loren does the work himself, shows up when he says he will, and leaves the site cleaner than he found it.

04

Ongoing care

Most yards do best with regular visits. Set a schedule and stop thinking about the yard entirely.

Year-round care

A Chico yard has four different jobs a year

The valley climate sets the calendar. Regular customers get each season handled before it becomes a problem.

Spring

Wake the yard up

Cleanups, mulch, planting, and irrigation checks before the heat arrives. The best month to plant is the one before you need the shade.

Summer

Beat the valley heat

Mowing height, watering schedules, and drip repairs matter most from June to September. This is where yards are won or lost in Chico.

Fall

Leaves, handled

Chico is the City of Trees, and every one of them ends up on someone’s lawn. Recurring leaf cleanups keep it from piling up.

Winter

Prune & reset

Dormant pruning for fruit trees and roses, bed rework, and the projects that are easier when nothing is growing.

Common questions

Answers before you call

The questions most Chico homeowners ask first. Anything else, just ask during the walkthrough.

Both. Plenty of jobs start as a one-time cleanup of an overgrown yard, and some of those turn into regular visits once the yard is back under control. There is no obligation either way.

Chico first, and the surrounding Butte County towns. If you are nearby, reach out; worst case the answer is a quick no.

Loren walks the yard with you, talks through what you want, and follows up with a clear price. Estimates are free and there is no pressure to book.

Most Chico lawns want weekly visits in the growing season and every other week in winter. Low-water yards can often go monthly. Loren will recommend a schedule based on what is actually planted.

Yes. Converting lawn to low-water plantings with drip irrigation is one of the most requested jobs in Chico, and it usually pays for itself in water savings and mowing you no longer need.

The best time to fix the yard was March.

The second best time is this week. Estimates are free and the walkthrough takes twenty minutes.
